Cruise Control - Where Do I Start

Got my x- reg (2000) galaxy a few years ago and the cruise control has never worked!

I'm sure it has cruise control due to the controls on the left hand stalk, however i have played with the controls whilst parked and driving over the trigger speed but nothing!!!

Have herd about split pipes which sounds like the first port of call but when switching the c,c on i get nothing not even a display light on dash.

Any advice on where to start would be much appreciated.

First you need to specify which engine you have.

If it's 2.0 or 2.3 petrol then split vacuum pipes could be the fault.

If it's any of the diesel engines or a V6 petrol then C/C is electronically controlled by the ECU.

Welcome to the forum.

 

You need to pop your details up so we now whether its a diesel, petrol and MK1 or Mk2 variant.

 

If its a diesel then the usual trouble is the brake/clutch switches, if its a petrol then its a bit more complicated.

 

It is unlikely that there is any indication light for cruise control on your vehicle as this only appeared on the later models ( not 100% on this.....check to see if the lamp appears when you first turn on your ignition as it does a bulb check ! ).

Sorry new to all this! Galaxy is a petrol 2.3 Mk2.

Going to have a go at fixing the c,c in the next few days on my 2.3 petrol engine galaxy (mk11) but still don't know where to start! Can anyone help me please?
